My name is Mahima Krishnan. I am the Founder and CEO of Coach Mahima. I started this company for my fellow mothers around the world who work so hard serving others at their workplace and home that they have forgotten about their needs and dreams. My mission is to help working mothers go after the things that they want for themselves while still successfully keeping their work and home commitments so that they feel confident, successful & fulfilled in life.
Just like a lot of kids, after earning an undergraduate and a master's degree in Computer Science from prestigious institutes in India and USA, I embarked on a decade-long successful corporate career in the IT industry. Creating software brought out the best skills in me and I was climbing the proverbial corporate ladder quickly. Meanwhile at home, I had got married and had a growing family. With a very busy career and very busy mornings and evenings with two tiny kids, I had completely forgotten about myself and my needs.
Very soon, my days started to look like this.
Wake up and immediately think about the long list of things to do today. Promise to myself that I would go to the gym and meditate (somehow).
Super rushed morning routine. Always accompanied by a side of impatient dealings with kids.
Go through the day repeating to everyone how my life is so busy and how I have no time to do anything.
Come home exhausted and deflated and wishing that the evening went smoothly with no trouble from the kids.
Decide to go to the gym the next day because I was too tired. (By this time, meditation seems like a stretch goal. So I don't even consider it as a possibility).
Go to bed feeling super guilty for not hitting the gym and for snapping at kids before bedtime.
Rinse... and repeat.
Years of doing this led to:
health issues
parental burnout at home
lack of engagement at the workplace
strain on all relationships including the one with my own kids
Until one day, I said a resounding "THAT IS IT!". I was done with complaining about lack of time and all other factors like work, kids, and life as my excuse for not leading the happiest life on this planet. I decided to understand myself, look within to see what makes me happy, work with a coach and turn my life around. AND I DID IT!
I craft my life the way that I want to. I lead my life feeling fulfilled, confident, joyous, and successful from within. Now my days look like this:
Wake up not thinking about any long list of to-do.
Calm morning routine with husband and kids. Occasional parenting situations are dealt-with with patience and empathy.
Complete my work and house commitments.
Enough time to do the things that I love like gardening, podcasts, books, and journaling. Including some TV.
Honor my wellness rituals and complete them without procrastination.
Stay present and energetic with kids in the evening.
Patient and calm during parenting/disciplining situations.
Go to bed knowing I got everything done for myself, my kids, work, and home.
When I worked with my coach, I figured out that my WHY is to:
I understood that I love to deeply connect with people, have meaningful conversations with them, understand them and most of all uplift them in their lives. That's when I decided to share the learnings from my own experience of bringing joy and happiness back into my motherhood and enrich the lives of other mothers as a life coach. Coaching is in complete alignment with who I am and is my calling. I left my corporate job and founded my business after I got trained and certified as a life coach by one of the best coaching institutes - IPEC.
